Motivation
The planned demolition of the service buildings (shipyards and building material warehouses) constructed behind the area of the tourist port, and their subsequent transfer to the new light industrial zone, are an opportunity to rethink the architectonic and urban organization of the whole area, in order to promote all the activities connected to the typical functions of a marina.
Project Area
The area is located at the end of the fishing port. It is crossed by a local road leading to the airport and is bounded on the landward side by a slightly raised area that is destined to become an urban park. It is a site of great beauty, where it is possible relate land and sea in effective architectonic synthesis.
Project Theme
The town of Pantelleria was completely destroyed during the Second World War. The area destined for the marina can become an opportunity to rebuild a stretch of the urban fabric as reparation for the ancient urban form.
As for the functional designation:
a) the strip of land next to the sea will contain everything most directly related to the tourist port;
b) the strip of land next to the hill will contain structures connected to temporary residence (hotel, restaurants, shops, etc.).
