PROJECT SOUTH is directly inspired by Venice Project promoted by Aldo Rossi in the 3th.International Architecture Exhibition in 1985, and uses it as a model. In this sense PROJECT SOUTH is also a tribute to Aldo Rossi, and is proposed in continuity with its cultural action.

The exhibition is intended to propose a series of project expressly developed for the Venice Biennale - Sensi contemporanei, aimed at the restoration of the coastal landscape of Southern Italian cities, which has the demolition of unsightly buildings present on the selected sites as a prerequisite.

After the closure of the exhibition these areas will be the subjects of architecture competitions in which the authors of the projects coming in the first places in each area will be invited to participate.

The invitation to participate in the exhibition is open to architects from all over the world, independently of their academic or professional qualifications.

The selection of projects for publication and exhibition will be carried out by an international jury.
The projects selected for the exhibition will be awarded prizes with the “Leone di Pietra”, instituted in 1985 by Aldo Rossi.
